About Jed Myers
I grew up reading a thick textbook called Game Design Workshop by Tracy Fullerton and Chris Swain, and it’s guided my design sense ever since. I modded for Mount & Blade Warband for years before entering Champlain College as a Game Design student. I am an old school gamer at heart and love Baldur’s Gate, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and Elder Scroll III: Morrowind and well as their successors Pillars of Eternity, BioShock, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Dishonored.
First and foremost I love emergent gameplay and particularly emergent narrative. Many hours and hours playing and learning from Mount and Blade: Warband and Crusader Kings II, recreating epic tales of morally grey medieval politics and tragic dynastic tales. I have also spent a ton of time attempting to understand genres that weren't my taste such as JRPGs.
I am well versed in the humanities having read many classics, including (but not limited to) Inferno, Paradise Lost, The Elder Edda, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Dao De Jing. I also read dozens of fantasy novels, my favorite book of all time being Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. As a fencer in the German tradition I will gladly do an interview over a gentlemanly duel with the longsword. I also have tons of experience Game Mastering in various Role-Playing systems.
